Pinyon Pine Chips — Botanical Material
Pinyon chips invite exploration. They are offered without a prescribed role — allowing makers, designers, and collectors to determine how scent, texture, or form becomes part of their work. Chosen by those who value material honesty, conservation, and experimentation over conventional uses. .
These Pinyon Pine chips are made from branches collected in the San Juan Mountain Range of Colorado. The chips are not harvested as a standalone product — they are a continuation of the material’s life. When collecting Pinyon we are careful and thoughtful to use all of the material collected from cones, to needles to branches. Each piece carries the same aromatic resin, texture, and weight found in larger pinyon forms but offered in a more compact and versatile scale.
Pinyon’s character is shaped by exposed mountain conditions — dry air, wind, thin soils, and seasonal extremes. The resulting wood is dense, tactile, and expressive. Whether experienced through scent, surface, or structure is intentionally left open.
Chip size, shape, and tone vary naturally. This variability reflects the original branch structure and is part of the material’s integrity.
